Each has an individual story and passion that comes along with their path.

Tammy M.

Tammy took her first yoga class looking to lose weight and get stronger and more flexible.  She was hooked from her first class, but not just because of the physical benefits.  The mental aspects of yoga are what kept her coming back day after day, rolling out her mat, breathing and moving.  She has been practicing for 13 years and teaching for almost 10.  She loves sharing her love of yoga and all its benefits, both physical and mental, with her students.  Tammy has taken trainings in many styles of yoga, everything from Yin to Ashtanga and incorporates them all into her classes.

She can't wait to meet you on your mat!

Amy L.

Amy began growing her passion for the mind, body, spirit connection in 1999 through practicing Tai Chi and Martial arts. She received her 200hr certification from Gotta Yoga more than five years ago. She is certified to teach all levels of yoga including those with arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, anxiety, depression, prenatal, and injury recovery. She enjoys teaching: energetic Vinyasa, Long Slow Deep and Meditation. She is married with a beautiful four year old daughter. Amy is very blessed to have had her yoga experience guide her through the entire pregnancy.

She is very dedicated to the practice of yoga and the beauty it brings to every life it touches. Through breathing fully and moving, we connect to our higher self and begin to grow our lives more fully and consciously. In her down time, she loves to cook, grow her gardens (fairy garden for her 4yr old), practice yoga, meditate, sing, take pictures, and paint (which you will see some of her art work in the studio).

TBY Schedule

Adrienne W.

Adrienne is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Sports Nutrition Consultant, Certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant and Certified Weight Management Specialist. She is a mom of two boys and an animal advocate lover. She is known for her warm down to earth presence in the studio, reminding you to smile and laugh when things are challenging. She believes yoga is the practice of creating space where there once wasn't, not only in your body and the way it moves but in your mind...

By clearing out negative thoughts and fears, you will then find more space in your heart for kindness and forgiveness for yourself and the world around you.

Emma.

Emma began her yoga journey in the summer of 2013 where she instantaneously felt a deep passion and drive to seek more of what yoga had to offer. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in February 2014. Since then, she has found yoga to be the most constant and supportive role in all phases of life. She believes she is always both student and teacher. In her classes Emma incorporates joy, ease, and self inquiry. Her source of reward is being able to help her students feel the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga regardless of practice level. Her desire is to continuously spread love, joy, and playfulness into her student's practice, as well as her own. She is first always a student learning and growing with her practice and teaching. Emma invites you to open up your heart, and to lay it all out on the mat.

Sarah has been an RN since 2004 & has a BS in Psychology / Sociology from Virginia Tech

TBY Schedule

Sarah F.

I am first and always the student.  As a E-RYT 200 and YACEP with Yoga Alliance, I completed my 200 hour TT at Yoga One, Charlotte, NC in 2011; Level One (96 hours) with Baron Baptiste at Menla Resort in Phoenicia, New York in 2013; Baptiste Art of Assisting at Yoga One in Charlotte, NC (25 hours/2014) and Deep Stretch Teacher Training with Ashley Cara Masters Healing Arts (25 hours/2016). While my teaching is inspired by the Baptiste Methodology, I love to explore all yoga, including Primal and Jivamukti Yoga with Tai Dorne, ParaYoga with Rod Stryker, Hatha Yoga at Yogaville, and Bow Spring Methodology with Linda Oelschlaeger/Rich Fabio.

I am currently working towards my RYT 500 with the Asheville Yoga Center. Teaching experiences include the inmate program at Mecklenburg County Sherriff’s Department / Mecklenburg County Jail; and both small (studio, privates, corporate) and large (Triple C, OMB Yoga on Tap) environments with all levels of yogis. I am excited to experience teaching and learning at Total Being Yoga

TBY Schedule

Kellen W.

Kellen is a yoga student and teacher with a

background in the Ashtanga, Vinyasa tradition and a passion for powerful vinyasa flow. Her relaxed, non-judgmental teaching style welcomes all students with compassion.  Like many others are, Kellen was first drawn to yoga for the physical practice to complement the training she did as a track and field athlete. Her first class didn’t have her hooked on yoga. She didn’t immediately feel more at peace, balanced and flexible, nor was she inspired to keep coming to the mat.

Truthfully, she wobbled around and laughed at herself, not taking the practice too seriously. Years later, a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease led Kellen back to the mat. As she continued a more frequent practice, she saw her chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia disappear. Seeing and feeling a change in herself, Kellen was eager to share the practice of yoga with others.  Kellen combines her studies in psychology with her poetic license as a yoga teacher to introduce the power of positive intention and affirmation. With thought-provoking messages and humor woven into creative sequencing, Kellen encourages students to find deeper connection with themselves, others and the universe at large.  "It’s just yoga" is something Kellen’s students hear her say often. Laughter is welcomed and wobbling is inevitable; the serious benefits of yoga come from not taking the self too seriously.

Maude

Maude took her first Yoga class in the Philippines in 2002 after an unhealthy lifestyle made her go through a sickly spell that made her quit her job. During that gap, she went to her first Yoga class and remembers her guru telling her to cultivate her strength from the inside out instead of the other way round. She was hooked. 17 years later, she still approaches Yoga with curiosity and appreciation. Maude is an RYT 200 having taken her teacher training from One Tree Yoga in Omaha, NE in 2012. She also finished her Yoga Therapy Foundational Program with Breathing Deeply in June of 2019 and will pursue advanced Yoga Therapy programs in the future. She is currently working towards becoming a Certified Functional Movement Specialist and intends to continue taking courses with the Postural Restoration Institute as well. She spends a good chunk of her personal time strength training, doing cardio exercises, mobility drills, calisthenics, and even dancing. She has a very pragmatic approach to teaching- eliminating the fluff and explaining the why's. And she relentlessly spreads the word that Movement is Medicine. Maude’s other passions include her dogs, watching movies, working in IT, and living a low waste lifestyle since January of 2018. She wants her students to leave class with a discovery or two about themselves, the same way her guru did for her. Maude's Yoga practice both in Asia and in the US makes her approach versatile and relatable, at the same time light-hearted and intuitive.

Beth H.

My first exposure to Yoga was during my training in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy. I must admit; I did not like it, not one little bit.  Being “Type A” I wanted to burn…I wanted to sweat…I wanted to be thin…I wanted it all. Yoga, at that time did not “seem” to work for me. After some consideration, I revisited a class. I kept going back…after realizing that I may need that which I do not want….Fast forward 15 years and here I find myself happier, as fit as I can be, more centered, and truly in love with what I do as a Yoga instructor.

My passion is to help people realize that they are already perfect, that Yoga is simply a language, a conduit for that idea to germinate, and grow.  I have been teaching since 2007, and received my 200 hour certification in 2012. I have been a licensed Neuromuscular Massage Therapist since 2001, and have a keen interest in Kinesiology (the way the body moves), Anatomy and Physiology. Yoga has become a forum for me to incorporate my knowledge of the body in a fusion of movement and breath.  While I love a vigorous Vinyasa practice myself, my teaching style incorporates many styles of Hatha Yoga: the alignment of Iyengar, the core of Power, the breathing flow of Vinyasa, etc. In addition, as a personal trainer for several years, I was fortunate to train yogis one on one to help them achieve their personal goals; from greater balance and flexibility, a better golf swing and speed on the tennis court, to simply being comfortable in their own skin.  I humbly believe in the power of a regular yoga practice, but even greater; I believe in the power of the practice to empower the practitioner.
